What’s On Your Plate? is a youth-oriented documentary about kids and food politics. It’s a witty and provocative film featuring two eleven-year old multiracial city kids who, over the course of one year, explore their place in the food chain. The two talk to food activists, farmers, and storekeepers as they address questions about the origins of the food they eat, how it’s cultivated, and how many miles it travels. They visit supermarkets, fast food chains, school lunchrooms, as well as greenmarkets, farms and CSA programs. Together they make some discoveries about the positive and negative effects of the various food production & distribution options and systems that we all operate within today.
